opens an existing AutoForm simulation file (*. sim ).
Open recent
opens a recently processed AutoForm file .
Open restart ...
opens a restart file ( *.rst ).
Open restart parents
Merges the result of an existing restart parent file into the current restart simulation .
Open sigma ...
opens a Sigma simulation series (* .opt ).
Open trim ...
opens a Trim simulation series (* .trm ).
Repeated opening of the current simulation file . Allows current intermediate results of a continuous simulation to be loaded .
APPLICATION
Setting up new simulations
DESCRIPTION
New ..
Setting up a new Incremental simulation using the New file dialog
New process plan ..
Setting up a new Process plan using the New file dialog
New onestep ..
Setting up a new OneStep simulation using the Onestep wizard
New hydro ..
Setting up a new Hydro simulation using the New file dialog
Units
Physical units (Length und Force ) which are used for the entire input of the simulation . The length unit should
correspond to the unit used in CAD data .
Geometric error tolerance
describes the acceptable chordal error for the mesh generation . The Geometric error tolerance is automatically
adapted to the length unit used for the simulation .
Import file
File format
Select the CAD format in which the fil is available using the button . The following formats are available :
IGES : The most important interface for reading 3 D geometries from CAD systems (e .g . CATIA , NX ) is the IGES
interface . The AutoForm IGES interface transfers both trimmed surfaces ( Faces ) and untrimmed surfaces
(Surfaces ). In doing so , first the trimmed surfaces and subsequently all untrimmed surfaces , which have not been
used for the definition of a trimmed surface , are processed .

Meshing parameters ..
Opens the dialog Meshing parameters . See Meshing parameters Dialog below .
Navigate
Click the respective button :
< : Go back to the previously selected directory .
Up : Move one level upwards in the directory structure . WorkDir : Go to your defined Working directory .
The last two buttons allow for the selection of recently used directories (Recent ) or any of the drives available in your
system (Drives ).
Directory
The currently selected directory is indicated .
Filter
You change the listed directory and files by entering the fil extension into the field Filter . Files with the respective
extension are indicated in the Files field as soon as you have confirmed the entry by pressing the Return key .
Directories
The directories of the currently selected directory are indicated .
Files
The directories contained in the currently selected directory are indicated .
Selection
The fil selected from the list Files is indicated .
Layers
Opens the dialog Layers . See Layers Dialog below .
Geometry name
The fil selected from the list Files is automatically inserted into the field Geometry name .
Enter another name for the geometry . The curve wil be contained with that name you enter into the field Curve name in
the list
Meshing parameters Dialog
DESCRIPTION
The Save function saves the current processing status into the current simulation file, while Save as saves i into a
simulation fil under a new name .
Note : In both variants , the simulation results are no longer included in the simulation file
Spin off simulation
APPLICATION
This function enables you to retrieve individual simulation files from an AutoForm -Trim or AutoForm -Sigma simulation group and save them as a new simulation fil which can be used separately without Trim Sigma setup information .The simulation results wil not be lost.
DESCRIPTION
For the name of the simulation fil, the following convention is used :
Sigma files .._ optxyz .sim are renamed to .._ xyz .sim
Trim files .._ trmxyz .sim are renamed to ..._xyz .sim
If you do not want to use this convention , feel free to enter any name to the simulation file
Stripping of Time Steps
APPLICATION
This function isused for several purposes :
Deleting time steps from a simulation fil
Combining time steps from restart jobs which have been opened using Open restart parents in the main window .
DESCRIPTION
After saving , only the selected time steps remain in the AutoForm simulation The results of all other time steps are
removed from the simulation fil.
The following options for storing time steps are available :
Keep last time step : The last time step is stored .
Keep last time step of every process step : The last time step of each process step is stored .
Keep last time step of every operation : The last time step of each operation is stored .
Keep selected time steps : The selected time steps are stored
Using the option Keep selected time steps , selected time steps can be stored by the user :
Keep all:All time steps are selected .
Keep none :No time step is selected .
Invert :The selection is reversed , .e .all currently not selected time steps are selected .
Stripping of Simulation Files
Using Strip Simulations ,only the base simulation and the selected simulations of an AutoForm -Sigma analysis remain
available All other simulations are deleted
DESCRIPTION
The following options are available for the selection of the simulations that willbe retained :
Keep only initial :Only the base simulation is kept .
Keep initial and best : The base simulation and the best simulation (of an Sigma optimization )are kept .
Keep initial and selected : The base simulation and the selected simulations are kept .
Using the option Keep initial and selected , selected simulations can be stored by the user :
Keep all:All simulations are selected
Keep none :No simulation is selected .
Invert :The selection is reversed , .e .the currently not selected simulations are selected
