23. 2D Hammer Multiple Operations
The intent of the lab is to demonstrate to the user how to prepare a multiple-operation
simulation in DEFORM for three successive hammer blows without having to manually
restart each pass. The simulation is performed as a 2D non-isothermal simulation.
23.1. Create a regular hammer problem
Start a new DEFORM-2D problem with problem ID HM_FORGE. Enter the Preprocessor and import HAMMER_LAB.KEY from directory \LABS. Generate the
database HM_FORGE.DB. Do not exit the Pre-processor.
23.2. Define multiple operations
In Pre-processor, click menu bar “Tools” and select “Hammer/Screw multiple operation”.
The following dialog should be displayed. Choose "Ratio to first blow" for "Energy
specification method". Click "Next".
You will be asked to initialize the hammer blow specifications. Input 3 for "Number of
blows", 1.5 for “Dwell time”, and toggle on “Flip”. Click OK.
Change "Relative Energy (%)" of the 2nd and 3 rd blow to 90 and 80, respectively, toggle
off "Flip" for the last blow, and click "Finish"(See Figure 23.3) A multiple operation
control file "HM_FORGE.MST" will be generated.
