Butterfly Nut in SolidWorks

Step1: Select the workbench

1.Launch solidworks2009

2.Select Start>new >a 3d representation.of a singe desinge compoent

3.Save file .Rename PartBody ”Butterfly Nut”

Step2:Draw the bottom of “Butterfly Nut”

1.Set the workbenth “front plane",and click theicon.Creat a new sketch1 (or click the icon) with centrepoimt arc icon , line icon sketch fillet icon , centerline icon and smart dimension icon.Look at Figure2. Don’t forget to quit the sketch workbench.

2.Extrude.Extrude the sketch1. The path: insert>Boss/Base >Extrude (or click the boss/base Extrudeicon in the feature toolbar). Be care the direction. Take acquiescent direction.Select’Mid Plane’in the termination conditions as shown in Figure3 .

3.Set the workbenth “front plane",and click theicon.Creat a new sketch2 (or click the icon) withline icon ,centerline icon and smart dimension icon. Look at Figure4. Don’t forget to quit the sketch workbench.

4.Revovle.Set the sketch2. The path: insert>Boss/Base >Revovle (or click the Revovle icon in the feature toolbar). All is shown in Figure5 and Figure6.

5.Set the workbenth “face<1>"as shown in Figue7,and click theicon.Creat a new sketch3 (or click the icon) with circle icon and smart dimension icon. Look at Figure7 . Don’t forget to quit the sketch workbench.

6.Cut-Extrude. Set the sketch3.The path: insert>Cut>Extrude (or click the Extrude icon in the Feature toolbar). Select’Through All’in the termination conditions as shown in Figure9. Take acquiescent direction.

7.Set the workbenth “face<1>"as shown in Figue7,and click theicon.Creat a new sketch4 (or click the icon) with Convert Entities icon and smart dimension icon. Look at Figure11 . Don’t forget to quit the sketch workbench.

8.Insert Helix/Spiral Curve.The Path:insert>Curve>Helix/Spiral(or click the curve icon in the Feature toolbar).

8.Creat a new reference plane . Set the piont as shown in Figure14 and next click. The path : insert>reference geometry>plane.Set the acquiescent direction. Look at the Figure15.

9.Set the workbenth “plane1",and click theicon.Creat a new sketch5 (or click the icon) with circle icon and smart dimension icon. Look at Figure16. Don’t forget to quit the sketch workbench.

10.Cut-Sweep. Set the sketch5 and Helix/Spiral1.The path: insert>Cut>Sweep (or click the Sweepicon in the Feature toolbar).

11.Fillet1 .Fillet the edges as shown in Figure19. The path: insert>Faeture >Fillet >variable radius(or click the Fillet icon in the feature toolbar). All is shown in Figure19 and Figure20.

12.Repeat the eleventh.Fillet2.Fillet the edges as shown in Figure19. The path: insert>Faeture >Fillet >variable radius(or click the Fillet icon in the feature toolbar). All is shown in Figure18 and Figure19.

13.Creat the Mirror of Fillet1 and Fillet2. The path:insert>Pattern/Mirrorn >Mirror(Or click the icon in the surface tolbar).Look at the Figure23.

14.Set the Selection View icon and click it .Next select the ‘right plane’ in the condition column as shown inFigure25.

Step3: Save

1. Click the save icon

2. Quit the solidworks2009
