RF/Microwave system analysis For wideband radar/ remote sensing 30
We can summarize the characteristics of balanced amplifier:
(1)  The VSWR can easily be made very low. (<=2.00:1).
(2) To cascade balanced amplifiers, only little inter stage tuning is needed because the
good isolations provided by the hybrid couplers between stages.
(3) The linear output power is 3dB higher than each single ended amplifier.
(4) 50 ohms load terminations help to stabilize the circuit.
The adversary effects of this technique are the size and cost it brings about, the loss in
hybrid, which in turn limits the achievable noise figure, and the bandwidth restriction
shown when we try to design multi-octave hybrids.
