ROM-monitor hardware resource usage
The ROM-monitor uses the following hardware resources of the LPC210x microcontroller:
• UART0
• VIC vector 0
• 4 Kbytes Flash ROM memory in the address range 0x0-0x00000FFF
• 1 Kbyte RAM memory in the address range 0x40000000-0x400003FF.
Your application must not use any of the above resources. This means that:
• all UART0 registers must be untouched by user code.
• pclk must be kept at the XTAL frequency divided by 4. This is the default after reset. If the PLL configuration and
VPBDIV is altered this ratio must be maintained.
• PINSEL0: Bits 0:3 must be set to 0x5.

How IAR Systems licensing works
Each IAR PowerPac™ product comes with a software license. There are two types of
IAR Systems license keys associated with a license:
● The QuickStart key, which allows you to use the product for 30 days after
installation
● The permanent key, which opens up the product for permanent usage.
You install IAR PowerPac™ using the QuickStart key. This allows you to start using
the product immediately after installation and 30 days onward. The QuickStart key is
included in the product package and is printed on the CD cover.
During the 30-day period, you must activate your license by registering the product with
IAR Systems. After registration, you will obtain the permanent key from IAR Systems.
By installing the permanent key, the product is opened up for permanent usage.
Registering the product also entitles you to one year of free upgrades and prioritized
technical support.

Installing the J-Link ARM software and documentation
J-Link is shipped with a bundle of applications, corresponding manuals and some example projects, and the kernel
mode J-Link USB driver. Some of the applications require an additional license.
Refer to chapter J-Link and J-Trace related software on page 21 for an overview about the J-Link software and
documentation pack.
SETUP PROCEDURE
To install the J-Link software and documentation, follow this procedure:

1 Connect your computer and the J-Link debug probe using the USB cable. Do not connect the J-Link debug probe to
the evaluation board, yet. The green LED on the front panel of the J-Link debug probe will blink for a few moments
while Windows searches for a USB driver.

 1.2.3 J-Link ARM Pro
J-Link Pro is a JTAG emulator designed for ARM cores. It is fully
compatible to J-Link and connects via Ethernet/USB to a PC
running Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003
or Windows Vista. Additional support for Cortex-R4 and CortexR8 cores will be available in the near future. J-Link Pro comes
with licenses for all J-Link related SEGGER software products
which allows using J-Link Pro "out-of-the-box".
