AutoForm Process Improvement—Optimlzaton

This lesson presents the application of AutoForm-Sigma In the field of Performance improvement—Optimization:

Main Focus

Optimization

Optimization evaluation

Used Software

AutoForm-Incremental

AutoForm-Sigma

Open the prepared simulation file rb_lesson_02.sim.

Main window File > Open > Select a file > Directories: Select the folder

containing the file > File: rb_lesson_02.sim > OK

An optimization is created in the Process generator:

Process gen. Create > Sigma

Define the Analysis type options. The Analysis type options were presented on page 5-3.

In the case at hand, select the Optimization analysis type.

Sigma Setup > Analysis type > Analysis type: RE: Design improvement/

optimization

First define the design variables which are then varied automatically by an optimization algorithm until a higher quality of the drawing part is achieved.

The force factors of the drawbeads beadl, bead2 and bead3 as well as the blank size are optimized as follows.

Drwbds > beadl > Force factor

Right-click inside the yellow framed input field. The dialog Add/ edit design variable appears:

Options for the Definition of Design Variables

Name: Name of design variable

Dependent: Name of a defined design variable. The current design variable depends on a selected, already defined design variable.

Independent: Definition of an independent design variable

Start: Initial value for the design variable

Min: Smallest possible value of the design variable

Max: Largest possible value of the design variable

Drawbeads

Go to the Drwbds page in the Process generator. The variation of the two drawbeads ranges from 0.25 to 0.45.

In the Restraining/Force factor [-] field, right-click inside the Strength area.

Add/edit design variable > Design variable definition > Name: dbl > Dependent: Independen! > Start: 0.45 > Min: 0.25 > Max: 0.45 >OK

Now the background color of the field changes (yellow). This helps you see that this parameter was defined as a design variable. The name of the design variable is displayed in the input field.

Repeat these steps for bead2 and bead3, which are also defined as independent design variables.

Process gen. Drwbds > bead2 > Forcefactor

Add/edit design variable > Design variable definition > Name: db2 > Dependent: Independent > Start: 0.45 > Min: 0.25 > Max: 0.45 >OK

Drwbds > bead3 > Forcefactor

Add/edit design variable > Design variable definition > Name: db3> Dependent: Independent> Start: 0.45 > Min: 0.25 > Max: 0.45 >OK

Blank Shape

Blank Outline > Fdit... > Curve editor > Local mod > Add Mod > Select

the lower right-hand corner of the blank outline and move it upwards > OK

If you move the slider between the extreme values 0 and 1, the blank outline is changed accordingly-

The variation range tor the blank outline corresponds to the range for the local modification, i.e. it varies between 0 and 1. Right-click inside the field (Modi) to set the modification factor.

Add/edit design variable > Design variable definition > Name: blank > Dependent: Independent > Start: 1 > Min: 0 > Max: 1 > OK

Go to tab Sigma/Control. The options for the areas Iteration control, Keep simulations and Host were described on page 5-6.

Hi every body
My name is Farhad and I am a junior die designer. I have problem with Autoform-Sigma. I mean that i cannot start and define the variables as above. Because when i start Autoform sigma, there is no parameters in yellow color to define.
Please give me some solutions.
Tnx
