1.1. OverviewFor the specification of directions like the measurement direction in a light intensity distribution, differentcoordinate systems are used in LucidStudio. Usually a direction is determined by a pair of angles. The co-ordinate systems are distinguished by the usage of different angles and are specified as A system, B systemand C system.
1.2. Direction specifications in cartesian coordinatesFor a direction specification in cartesian coordinates a point r=(x, y, z) different fromthe zero point is required. The given direction defined by this point corresponds to the direction of the line from the zero point to thepoint r, which defines the direction vector. The following descriptions of the different coordinate systemsare referred to a direction vector of this kind.
1.3. The A systemIn the A system, the direction vector lies in the so called A plane. This plane is obtained by rotating the yz-plane about the y-axis. The azimuth angle ?àdetermines how far the yz-plane has to be rotated in order to getthe A plane.
