In the LightTools Core and Illumination modules,you can use parametric controls to manage model parameters.(See Using Parametric Controls to Modify Parameters on page 246 in the LightTools Core Module User's Guide.)In the LightTools Optimization Module, you can use parametric controls to expand the capabilities of an optimization process to go beyond optimizing or constraining
parameter values.Using aliases,numeric parameters, pickups, and parametric expressions,you can also optimize or constrain calculated values,for which you might otherwise need to write user-defined constraints or merit functions.
Calculated values could include such values as the distance between two points,the volume of an element, or the sag of a surface at a specified location,for example.
In the Optimization Module:
Numeric parameters can be used as variables.
