HyperMesh Collectors:create collectors containing only the elements to be exported, namely 3D linear elements(tets, hexas, piramids, pentas)and the associated 2D elements for all the subsets of the boundary that require a boundary condition other than wall(e.g.inlet,outlet, symmetry, etc).It is convenient to place the 3D elements in one or more collectors, and each set of 2D BC elements in collectors with the appropriate name(e.g. inletA, inletB,outlet, etc). The best approach to create BC collectors is to use the "^faces" collector, so that both 3D and 2D elements refer to the same node numbers, otherwise there will be problems when reading the mesh in Fluent.

Most assemblies contain a significant number of what Autodesk Inventor refers to as Library parts.
Library parts are read-only parts that cannot be edited.Often parts contained in libraries are shared by multiple projects;that is to say, they are used in the design of multiple products. Most commonly, libraries contain standard hardware such as fasteners or purchased parts such as motors or hydraulic cylinders. In the case of very large assemblies worked on by multiple design groups(structural, electrical, hydraulics),a library may contain the baseline work of another design group.

Mass Calculation
HyperMesh templates calculate element area, volume, and mass, based upon solver-specific
attributes attached to the model.
To calculate the mass of a given component or element, the template must be loaded and have
*function()commands that assign area, volume, and mass to template variables(variable1=area, variable2=volume,variable3=mass).The mass calculation function for the PAM-CRASH template is in $hmdir/template/feoutput/pamcrash/include/function,where $hmdir is your HyperMesh installation directory.

Altair HyperMesh Interfacing with nSOFT

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/303282.html
Guidelines for using the nSOFT Interface
Follow these steps when using the nSOFT interface:
1.Load the finite element model of the structure or component to be analyzed.
2.Apply the loads that represent the loading environment for which the fatigue life is to be
evaluated.
These loads can be static loads for a static finite element analysis with load histories supplied in nSOFT. The stress and strain tensor for each static loadcase can then be written for nSOFT from the fatigue panel.Or,the loads can be transient loads that can be analyzed with a transient dynamic finite element analysis. The stress and strain tensor for each time-step can then be exported to nSOFT via the fatigue panel.
3.Analyze the model using the NASTRAN or ABAQUS finite element solver.
4.Translate the finite element analysis results into the HyperMesh format (hmres) using the
appropriate HyperMesh translator.

Embedded-Designing and Programming Small Devices for Networking

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/303142.html
The computers in the network must also agree on the following aspects of sharing the network:
•Rules for deciding when a computer may transmit on the network. When multiple computers share a data path, whether in a cable or wireless medium, the computers need to know when the path is available for transmitting. The Ethernet standard contains rules that specify when a
computer may transmit.
•A way of identifying a transmission's intended destination. In Ethernet networks, multiple computers may receive a message intended for one computer in the network. When a message arrives at a computer's network interface, the computer needs to know whether the message is intended for itself or another computer.Every communication in an Ethernet network includes a hardware address that identifies the Ethernet interface of the intended receiver. Some communications also use Internet protocols that contain additional addressing information, such as an addresses that identify the sending and receiving computers on the Internet and a port,or process, that receives the communication at the destination computer.

Post-fight briefing
In this lesson we learned how to use the Parallel Master Port to drive an LCD display module. Actually,we have just started scratching the surface. Also, since the LCD display module is a relatively slow peripheral,it might seem that there has been little or no significant advantage in using the PMP instead of a traditional bit-banged I/O solution. In reality, even when accessing such simple and slow peripherals the use of the PMP can provide two important benefi ts:

In the LightTools Core and Illumination modules, you can use parametric controls to manage model parameters.(See Using Parametric Controls to Modify Parameters on page 246 in the LightTools Core Module User's Guide.)In the LightTools Optimization Module, you can use parametric controls to expand the capabilities of an optimization process to go beyond optimizing or constraining
parameter values.Using aliases, numeric parameters, pickups, and parametric expressions, you can also optimize or constrain calculated values, for which you might otherwise need to write user-defined constraints or merit functions.
Calculated values could include such values as the distance between two points, the volume of an element, or the sag of a surface at a specified location, for example.
In the Optimization Module:
Numeric parameters can be used as variables.

Modeling Sources in LightTools

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/303169.html

It is important to consider the electrode structure of the LED to produce accurate models. The electrode usually blocks the light emitted from the die, which can produce distinct patterns in the output beam. This is a critical consideration for applications where uniform illumination is needed. Most LED designs use a single circular electrode at the top. Many other electrode configurations exist, primarily to provide more uniform current densities.Uniform current density is important to obtain uniform luminance.Current-spreading layers are common in LEDs to produce uniform current density across the die.AlGaInP,AlGaAs,SiC,GaAsP,and GaP die(s)typically have one contact on the top and one on the bottom of the die.
The GaN/Al2O3 die typically has both contacts on the top.Figure 49 illustrates schematics of various electrode structures found in LEDs.

Concrete Construction Engineering Handbook

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302971.html

A brace is any structural member used to support another, always designed for compression loads and sometimes for tension under special load conditions. In formwork, diagonal bracing is a supplementary(not horizontal or vertical)member designed to resist lateral load.Form braces are frequently made of wood or steel.Commercial steel pipe braces in various diameters and wall thicknesses and load-rated for adjustable lengths are popular. Buckling strength of braces is always a primary design consideration.
Horizontal lacing, horizontal members attached to shores or braces to reduce their unsupported length, can thus increase the available load capacity. Both bracing and lacing must be adequately connected at each end. This can be accomplished with bolts, nails, and a variety of commercial devices, depending on the materials involved. When attaching braces to the ground,a buried or above-ground concrete mass known as a deadman is sometimes used (Figure 7.20).

Concrete PIPE Design Manual

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302972.html

This manual is a compilation of data on concrete pipe, and it was planned to
provide all design information needed by the engineer when he begins to consider
the type and shape of pipe to be used. All equations used in developing the
figures and tables are shown along with limited supporting theory. A condensed
bibliography of literature references is included to assist the engineer who wishes
to further study the development of these equations.
Chapters have been arranged so the descriptive information can be easily
followed into the tables and figures containing data which enable the engineer to
select the required type and size concrete pipe without the lengthy computations
previously required. All of these design aids are presently published in
engineering textbooks or represent the computer analysis of involved equations.
Supplemental data and information are included to assist in completing this
important phase of the project, and illustrative example problems are presented in
Chapters 2 through 4. A review of these examples will indicate the relative ease
with which this manual can be used.

The high-voltage output cell of the automotive VFD driver IC fabricated in a 0.5-µm high-voltage CMOS process is shown in Fig. 1.In this VFD driver IC, the output pull-up function is realized by the high-voltage PMOS (HVPMOS),whereas the pull-down function is realized by the on-chip
resistor of 300 kohm for vacuum fluorescent display. The resistor is connected from the output pad to VEE of -40V for VFD applications.
The device structure of the HVPMOS is drawn in Fig. 2,where the high-voltage region is surrounded by the high-voltage (HV) P-well of lightly doped concentration with a specified clearance from the HV P-well edge to the drain P+ diffusion of the HVPMOS. Such a HV P-well with lightly doped concentration will provide the drain of HVPMOS with high enough breakdown voltage for VFD application. The breakdown voltage of the HVPMOS is specified to be higher than 45V for this VFD application.

Pull-up/pull-down resistors
A pull-up resistor is required on SWDIO on the target board.ARM recommends 100 kOhms.
In case of doubt you should follow the recommendations given by the semiconductor manufacturer.
Target power supply
Pin 19 of the connector can be used to supply power to the target hardware.Supply voltage is 5V, max.current is 300mA The output current is monitored and protected against overload and short-circuit.
Power can be controlled via the J-Link commander. The following commands are available to control power:

J-Link/J-Trace ARM User guide of the JTAG emulators

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302868.html

In general,J-Link/J-Trace should be powered on before connecting it with the target
device. That means you should first connect J-Link/J-Trace with the host system via
USB and then connect J-Link/J-Trace with the target device via JTAG.Power-on the
device after you connected J-Link/J-Trace to it.
5.1.2 Verifying target device connection
If the USB driver is working properly and your J-Link/J-Trace is connected with the
host system, you may connect J-Link / J-Trace to your target hardware. Then start
JLink.exe which should now display the normal J-Link/J-Trace related information
and in addition to that it should report that it found a JTAG target and the target??s
core ID. The screenshot below shows the output of JLink.exe. As can be seen,it
reports a J-Link with one JTAG device connected.

Flash Loader Development Guide for IAR Embedded Workbench

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302867.html

A flash loader is usually a rather small program which can program a certain flash memory
device,or family of devices. The flash loader consists of a small set of functions, mainly for
erasing or writing designated portions of the flash memory. C-SPY downloads this program into
RAM (it must be linked to an address in RAM). To run the program, C-SPY positions the PC at
one of the functions in the flash loader, writes data and directives for that function into a RAM
buffer, and starts execution. When the function returns, execution will hit a breakpoint. C-SPY
will then know that the function has finished and can proceed to make further calls to continue
the flash loading process. In short,C-SPY calls functions in the flash loader.
The flash memory device configuration files
The flash memory device configuration file is an XML file (filename extension flash) which
describes for C-SPY all relevant properties of a certain flash device. For example, the base
address of the flash memory and details such as block and page sizes. The file also specifies
which flash loader to use.

After you drag a body, you can save the current configuration, i.e. the
position and orientation of the components,as a snapshot.Snapshots
capture the existing locked bodies, disabled connections, and geometric
constraints.
A snapshot can be used for the following purposes:
•A starting point for a motion run.
•To place an assembly in a particular configuration.
•Snapshots can also be made available as explode states in assembly.
As a result the drawing created from the assembly will have multiple
view state. Different position configurations can be displayed on one
drawing sheet in a painless manner.
When manipulating snapshots,you can
•Create multiple snapshots
•Remove snapshots
•Switch from one snapshot to another
•Update a snapshots to the current configuration
•Borrow part position from one snapshot to another
The following table lists the icons available for creating and manipulating
snapshots.

Structural Details In Concrete

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302842.html

To prevent the capillary rise of water into a slab-on-grade or belowgrade slab,an intervening layer of material must be added which is either impervious to moisture penetration or has a pore structure large enough to prevent capillary suction.Gravel and crushed rock are the materials most commonly used to provide a capillary break under a slab-on-grade or below-grade slab.

Seismic Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302841.html

Because of the appreciable forces and deformations that can be expected in critical regions of structures subjected to strong ground motions and a basic uncertainty concerning the intensity and character of the ground motions at a particular site, a good design concept is essential at the start. A good design concept implies a structure with a configuration that behaves well under earthquake excitation and designed in a manner that allows it to respond to strong ground motions according to a predetermined pattern or sequence of yielding.

Friction coefficients depend on the type of material in contact,as well as the
experimental conditions. Tables of typical friction coefficients are often found in
physics and engineering texts.
You can specify static and kinetic friction for your cam-follower or slot-follower
connection.
•The coefficient of static friction for two surfaces must be larger than the
coefficient of kinetic friction for the same two surfaces.
•The coefficient of static friction describes the amount of energy that is needed to
initiate movement in your model.
•The coefficient of kinetic friction describes the amount of energy that is lost to
friction while keeping your model in motion.

Manual for the design of concrete building structures to Eurocode

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302817.html

One engineer should be responsible for the overall design, including stability, and should ensure the compatibility of the design and details of parts and components even where some or all of the design and details of those parts and components are not made by the same engineer.
The structure should be so arranged that it can transmit permanent(dead) and variable
(wind and imposed)loads in a direct manner to the foundations. The general arrangement should
ensure a robust and stable structure that will not collapse progressively under the effects of misuse or accidental damage to any one element.
The permanent and variable load factors to be used for the proportioning of foundations
should be obtained from EC08 and EC76(see also Section 3.2.1).The factored loads are,
however, required for determining the size of foundation members and for the design of any
reinforcement.

ACI-Recommendations For Design Of Slab-Column Connections

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302819.html

Connection-The joint plus the region of the slab and beams adjacent to the joint.
Column-A cast-in-place vertical supporting element, including column capital if provided, with or without construction joints, designed to resist forces from the slab at the connection, and having a ratio of long to short cross-sectional dimensions not exceeding four.
Column capital-A flared portion of the column below the slab, cast at the same time as the slab, and having effecfive plan dimensions assumed equal to the smaller of the actual dimensions and the part of the capital lying within the largest right circular cone or pyramid with a 90-deg vertex that can be included within the outlines of the supporting column.

SAICE-Design Of Prestressed Concrete Flat Slabs

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302820.html
Reports 17 and 25 require a minimum prestress level of 0.7MPa. The CEB-FIP code requires 1.0MPA and the ACI 0.86MPa.In a lecture given some years ago it was suggested that less than 1.4 MPa was too low a prestress,1.4 to 3.5 MPa was the'proper'range, and over 3.5 MPa would cause excessive shortening. Many slabs are now designed with stresses less than 0.7 MPa.
It is the Committee's philosophy that there is a continuous spectrum of concrete from plain reinforced to fully prestressed concrete, and that there should be no arbitrary limits on prestress levels.
It is considered that prestressed flat slabs are essentially ordinary flat slabs, subjected to additional lateral loads from tendons, which reduce the effective load on the slab, and to longitudinal prestress which helps to reduce cracking.

IAR Migration Guide for Advanced RISC Machines Ltd's ARM Cores

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302823.html

The name of the assembler executable file has been renamed from aarm to iasmarm.
In your assembler source code, consider the following issues:
1 Modules
In version 5.x, neither the assembler nor the compiler can make a distinction between
program and library modules. If you want a module to be treated as a library module,
thus conditionally linked, you must place the module in a library.
This means that if you have used either the LIBRARY or the MODULE directive in your
existing assembler source code, these will no longer have any effect.
In version 4.x, you could define one or several assembler modules in each file. In version
5.x, there can only be one module per file. This means that you have to restructure your
files accordingly.

Alpine is the only Green Mountain Geophysics program that uses date information.Users of Alpine have the option to enter four digits to specify the year.In this case, there are no year 2000 issues. If the user chooses to enter two digits to specify the year, Alpine will assign values between 51-99 to the twentieth century and values between 00-50 to the twenty-first century.
Green Mountain Geophysics uses software components from several third party vendors(AVS-Uniras, Elan,Software Security and XVT).Statements of Year 2000 compliance from these vendors are included with this letter. The Elan statement makes note of several features of their product that are not year 2000 compliant, but Green Mountain does not rely on any of these features. We have tested the Elan software internally and found no year 2000 problems related to our software. The AVS statement of compliance is non-committal,but Green Mountain does not use any date-specific features of the AVS software.

Millenium Fathom system

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302557.html

Fathom Analysis employs three algorithms for computing velocities: Reciprocal Velocity Analysis,Simple Velocity Analysis, and CMP Velocity Analysis.Delay times can be computed using a Gauss-Seidel algorithm,or EGRM or Hybrid algorithms (2D only).A Batch Analysis option makes it possible to run large,CPU-intensive analyses in a non-interactive mode. This module also offers Geometry Analysis, in which the Gauss-Seidel algorithm is used to compute potential source and detector location errors.
Fathom Modeling constructs the earth model for the computation of statics.Delay times and refractor velocities from the analysis stage are combined with surface elevations to begin model construction.
Missing information, such as weathering velocities and refractor layer thickness can be computed or supplied from a variety of sources, for example, from uphole data or user-supplied values. The earth model is easily manipulated and edited until you are satisfied with its geological and geophysical properties.
Statics can then be computed to a variety of datum surfaces.

header.

Texas Instruments DSP/BIOS 6.20 Getting Started Guide

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302562.html

When you are creating a CCSv4 project that enables RTSC support, you can select a
RTSC Configuration Template. The actual files for the DSP/BIOS templates are copied
from BIOS_INSTALL_DIR\packages\ti\sysbios\genx\templates. When you highlight a
template,a brief description is provided to the right.
The following DSP/BIOS templates are available when you choose File > New > CCS
Project and get to the RTSC Configuration Templates page of the project creation
wizard. These templates copy both a default .c file into the CCS Project and a default .cfg
file into the RTSC Configuration Project.
•Clock Example. This template uses the clock.c and common.cfg files.
•Error Example. This template uses the error.c and error.cfg files.
•Event Example. This template uses the event.c and common.cfg files.

Using the ROM Image on DA830 with RTSC Content

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/302563.html

There is an important limitation to consider when using the ROM image. Many of the module
configuration parameters for the modules in the ROM image have been frozen to specific
(usually default)values, and cannot be changed by your configuration.
The reason for this is an important optimization in RTSC code generation. When XDCtools
generate code based on the client’s configuration, the module configuration parameters are
generated as constants. The compiler can then fold these constants into the code,so that the
code is optimized as though it were written specifically for the client‘s configuration.
When the ROM image is generated, the code is frozen. So,to benefit from this important
optimization, the values of the module configuration parameters must be decided on and
sealed.

The Spectrum Digital Low Voltage Adapter with Adaptive Clocking provides the following:
•Voltage translation between 3.3-volt emulator interfaces and JTAG targets that require down to 1.8-volt
interfaces
•Adaptive clocking for TI ARM based processors

The adapter is designed primarily to support the XDS510USB emulator but may be used with most any emulator that
supports the standard TI 14-pin JTAG header.

To get started simply plug the Low Voltage adapter into your emulator??s 14-pin cable connector. Then plug the other end into your target. Both the male header and female connector on the Low Voltage adapter are keyed to prevent incorrect insertion. The diagram below shows a side view of the connection to the board.

1.2 HWI Hardware Interrupt Benchmarks
HWI_enable.This is the execution time of a HWI_enable function call, which is used to globally
enable hardware interrupts.
HWI_disable.This is the execution time of a HWI_disable function call, which is used to globally disable hardware interrupts.
HWI dispatcher. These are the execution times of specified portions of the HWI dispatcher code.
This dispatcher handles running C code in response to an interrupt. The benchmarks provide
times for the following cases:
•Interrupt prolog for calling C function. This is the execution time from when an interrupt
occurs until the user??s C function is called.
•Interrupt epilog following C function call. This is the execution time from when the user‘s C
function completes execution until the HWI dispatcher has completed its work and exited.
