Introduction
This training manual should be used in conjunction with the Maxsurf User manual
supplied with the program. It provides additional examples and explanations of the
features available in Maxsurf and how they may be used to their best advantage.
Maxsurf is a surface modelling program. It uses a mathematical model to describe
the shape of a number of surfaces. These surfaces make up the design. The surfaces
are modelled in three dimensions and may be manipulated into virtually any shape
by the designer. It should be emphasised that the surfaces are three dimensional,
and that it can take a while to become adept at modelling surfaces in three
dimensions. To aid the designer to visualise the shape of the surface, contours are
drawn on the surface, or the surface may be rendered as if it were a solid object with
lights shining on it.
This manual gives you exercises to help you learn the various facets of the program.
In addition, there are many sample designs supplied with the program, these are
installed in a Sample Designs subfolder. Once you have some familiarity with
Maxsurf, it is well worth spending some time going through these various designs
to see the various techniques that can be used to achieve the results you desire
