DEFORM Accuracy Verification Example 003 (NAFEMS T4)

http://www.cadfamily.com/downinfo/301442.html

DEFORM solution
This verification example was run in DEFORM-2D using plane strain elements.
Simulations were also run in DEFORM-3D by extruding the geometry 1m in the out-of-
plane dimension. Both 8-noded brick and 4-noded tetrahedral elements were tested in
3D.
The simulations were run until a steady-state temperature distribution was obtained.
For this verification example, 50 time steps were used with .01 second per step.
The temperature at point P is the solution of interest. In the 3D simulations, point P
actually corresponds to a line of nodes through the thickness of the object. For the 3D
simulations using brick elements, the temperature along the line of nodes was constant,
so only one temperature is reported. For the 3D simulations involving tetrahedral
elements, the minimum, maximum and average temperature along the line of nodes is
reported, and the % Difference is reported for the average temperature.
