Starting an Encapsulation
Encapsulation sessions are started by double-clicking a dataset of the desired
application type in the Teamcenter application tree or the Properties table. The
following actions take place after you double-click the dataset:
• The selected dataset is implicitly checked out. If the item or item revision in
which the dataset resides also contains a BOMView revision, it is implicitly
checked out. If you do not have write privilege to the dataset, or if the dataset is
checked out by another user, the dataset is exported with read only permission.
A message is displayed informing you of the read only status and that changes
cannot be saved. You then have the opportunity to cancel or continue with the
encapsulation session.
